In a brand new podcast series, the Center Multisports André-Chagnon invites you to discover that training does not stop at lifting weights, sweating or running a marathon. Under the title It’s not all about training, these interviews aim to shed interesting and professional light on an aspect closely or not very far related to training. In a first series of six meetings, Patrick Richard questions nutritionist Joanie Séguin about the importance of food.

In my second interview with nutritionist Joanie Séguin, we talk about food planning. I actually start my meeting by asking her what I consider to be one of the worst questions I’ve ever asked anyone on a podcast and I quote myself, “It starts where planning Joanie, is- does it start somewhere? Well no, Patrick, planning descends from the sky and illuminates people like a divine and spontaneous intervention. Fortunately, Joanie then explains how good planning can help us relieve the excess stress sometimes associated with preparing meals and even shares some good tips for those who are not sure where to start. Examples?

  • Do not go grocery shopping when you are hungry, because you risk buying with your eyes
  • Do your planning just before eating, because it’s more inspiring than when you’re full
  • Planning is not supposed to be boring, do it in a serene atmosphere while listening to the podcast It’s not all about training.
  • Make a date with yourself to make it a habit
  • Separating tasks from planning to avoid having it all fall to one person

Anyway, everything was going well until I came back with another dubious question: “Joanie, I feel like planning for the day takes longer than planning for the day. week.

If we were at a gala, I would give myself a trophy for the relevance of my questions. But in the end, you learn a lot of useful things in this podcast such as creating lists of winning recipes, trusting yourself and taking a little time to plan in order to save a lot. Before concluding, we touch a little bit on the question of food marketing, but let’s save the subject anyway for another podcast. In the meantime, it’s not enough to train, because we have to talk about planning!

Enjoy the pod! Patrick Richard
