Environment and Health: Are We Truly Willing to Change Our Habits?
Today, the environment and climate dominate public discourse—and rightfully so. Climate change, extreme weather, and scientific reports are impossible to ignore. And yet, meaningful behavioral change remains slow, if not stagnant.
In Québec and Canada, the number of vehicles is growing faster than the population, and fuel-hungry pickup trucks are more popular than ever. Canada leads the world in waste production per capita, while thousands of shipping containers loaded with disposable goods travel halfway across the globe to satisfy fleeting consumer cravings.
The same logic applies to our health. We’ve long known the effects of physical inactivity: rising obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease. The medical and scientific consensus is crystal clear. Yet, our habits evolve too slowly, while healthcare costs skyrocket and today’s children may, for the first time in history, live shorter lives than their parents.
Just like with the climate, we often do too little, mistaking symbolic gestures for real change. But true transformation requires more: commitment, consistency, and above all, collective action.
At the Centre Multisports, we act modestly but with intention. Our goal is to inspire, educate, support, and motivate as many people as possible to embrace movement and wellness. Every year, we witness the impact: changed lives, strengthened habits, and growing waves of inspiration.
Because one active person can influence others. And step by step, together, we create lasting change.
