Cycling: A Social Movement—and a Way to Give Back!

It’s said often, and with good reason: cycling has become a global social phenomenon. And here in Québec, the movement is thriving. With over 100 cyclosport clubs across the province—each with an average of 150 members—enthusiasm is high. Some clubs, like Vélo Passion in Ste-Thérèse, boast up to 800 members!

Closer to home, Club Le Suroît in Vaudreuil-Dorion (250 members) and Les 3 Sommets in Valleyfield (200 members) offer weekly group rides for cyclists of all levels. Whether it’s for fitness or fun, cycling brings people together.

The momentum continues in tourism, with countless on- and off-road trails, regional cycling networks, and guided cycling tours around the globe. Cycling is now a lifestyle, a mode of travel, a health tool, and an inspiration for community connection.

Even more powerful? Cycling has become a way to give back. Every year, thousands ride in fundraising events, turning their passion into real support for meaningful causes.

One such event is La Grande Boucle des Trois Lacs, celebrating its 6th edition on June 16. Choose from three routes—15, 60, or 115 kmaccessible to all levels. By riding, you help fund physical activity projects in local schools, giving kids in the Trois-Lacs School Board the chance to move more, every day.

Ride for yourself, sure—but ride for others too. There’s a route for you. Will you join?
