Have you ever wished you had an ally to help you move forward with your overall well-being? Someone qualified and passionate, who would take care of you by showing you the right steps to take to optimize your body and make you feel all the benefits of health? This ally of preventive health really does exist, you will find it under the name "kinesiologist"!
Kinesi-what?
A kinesiologist is a health professional and physical activity specialist who uses movement for prevention, rehabilitation, and performance.
In other words, a kinesiologist is a university-trained coach with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. Their expertise lies in the body’s systems involved in movement and human performance. Through exercise prescription and hands-on guidance, kinesiologists help optimize your physical potential—whether you're an athlete or not—all while keeping it enjoyable and efficient.
Pro tip: Can’t remember the full title? Just say "kin"—they’ll know what you mean!
What Does a Kinesiologist Do?
The gym—or more broadly, positive overload—is a kinesiologist’s main tool. By stimulating and strengthening your body’s systems, they trigger targeted adaptations tailored to your needs, goals, and health conditions.
To help you reach your full potential, kinesiologists often collaborate with physiotherapists, nutritionists, doctors, and other health professionals when needed.
Kinesiologists at the Centre
At the Centre Multisports, your journey starts with an orientation session with a kinesiologist. This is your opportunity to discuss your goals, health challenges, or athletic ambitions while getting your questions answered.
Should you decide to team up with your kinesiologist, the process begins with a comprehensive physical assessment in our Exercise Physiology Lab. You’ll complete a series of tests to accurately determine your current fitness level and areas for improvement—no performance required! The goal is simply to understand your baseline.
Based on this data, your “kin” will design a personalized training program tailored to your physical condition and individual needs. Then, through ongoing follow-ups, they’ll fine-tune your plan as you progress, keeping you safe, focused, and motivated.
After all, the key to long-term fitness—and the benefits it brings—is consistency and enjoyment!
