From late June to the end of August 2017, the Centre Multisports will offer youth aged 12 to 16 the opportunity to experience a true training camp in the beautiful setting of Collège Bourget.
Several sports will be offered: judo, cycling, soccer, table tennis, and multisport. Everything is set to provide young athletes with a unique experience. From Sunday to Friday evening, over eight weeks, participants will live a full week of camp guided by elite coaches. Eat, run, sleep—there will hardly be time to sit by the fire.
A Strategic Initiative
These eight weeks of training camps are fully organized by the Centre Multisports, which will take advantage of Collège Bourget’s high-end sports facilities, generally underused during the summer.
“We’ve been considering this for a while,” says Gilles Besner, Director of the Centre Multisports. “It fits into our strategic development plan: to support elite athletic development in Vaudreuil-Soulanges and explore new partnerships to grow our business potential. Collège Bourget is the perfect place to hold such an initiative.”
The camp will feature sports already associated with the Centre. The first two weeks will focus on judo and cycling, followed by two weeks of soccer and table tennis. The final four weeks will spotlight multisport programming: cycling, soccer, climbing, swimming, softball, obstacle courses, and more. Each day, 4 to 5 hours will be dedicated to sport-specific training, supported by kinesiologists handling physical conditioning. Evenings will be filled with group activities, such as outings to Arbraska Rigaud.
“This kind of offering doesn’t currently exist—it's unique,” says Davidsen Jugnah, Programming Director. “We want to engage club athletes and bridge the gap between their end-of-season and the fall. It’s not a recreational day camp—it’s a high-performance training camp.”
Elite Coaching and Top Facilities
Collège Bourget can host up to 250 overnight guests. Alongside youth hockey programs and McGill University's football team, campers from the Centre Multisports will enjoy:
-
synthetic and natural fields
-
climbing wall
-
3 gymnasiums
-
tennis courts
-
table tennis rooms
-
weight room
-
amphitheater
-
swimming pool
-
and access to Mont Rigaud
“We know their commitment to sport—our values align,” adds Besner.
The Centre is working with sport federations to ensure continuity from club creation to competition. Notable coaches already confirmed:
-
Cycling: Philippe Raymond, elite coach of Club ZVP
-
Table Tennis: Hans Ghoorbin, former international player with 12+ years of coaching experience
-
Judo: The Centre is currently in talks with a national Olympic coach
“This is comparable to being embedded in a year-round sports training center,” adds Jugnah.
Supported by Loisir et Sport Montérégie, the project targets the Greater Montreal area within an 80 km radius. Price per week: $685 all-inclusive, excluding sleeping bag.
Total Immersion for Total Growth
At summer’s end, the impact on young athletes will be measurable. Immersive, focused training helps athletes grow mentally and physically. Some will discover a new passion. Others will reach new levels. All will leave with memories—and progress.
Besner is confident the benefits go far beyond the campers:
“These camps will also help us strengthen our club system and boost our coaches’ expertise.”
Only the Centre Multisports, he believes, is positioned to offer such a project:
“With our mission to foster physical activity and sports excellence, we are the right organization for the job. We’ve got the team, the partners, and the facilities. Only the weather could get in the way!”
