Recruitment Period for the 2019 Season

The ZVP – OPTO RÉSEAU Cycling Club is committed to making road and mountain biking accessible and engaging in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region. With the support of skilled and passionate coaches, a wide range of activities is offered to foster discovery, skill development, and high performance. Our goal is to ignite a lifelong passion for cycling among young athletes, encouraging them to stay active and healthy.

After just three years of existence, the progress of our young riders — on both road and mountain bikes — has been outstanding. Our athletes are now recognized contenders at various events, with consistent podium appearances across Quebec. Few clubs, even those with longer histories, can match our success. In 2018, our riders earned 71 road cycling podiums, including seven provincial championship finishes and one medal at the Quebec Games, along with 43 mountain biking podiums.

This success stems largely from the exceptional coaching support provided by our team. The coaches’ experience, knowledge, and human touch help young cyclists discover the joy of effort — and with it, a natural appetite for competition.

The ZVP – OPTO RÉSEAU Club is competition-focused. Our ambition is to train athletes who will first stand out at the provincial level and soon after move on to major continental events such as the Tour de la Relève de Rimouski (Cadet), Tour de l’Abitibi (Junior), Tour de Beauce (Senior), Green Mountain Stage Race, and Canada and Quebec Cup races, among others.

To support this journey, the club provides athletes with top-tier material, human, and technical resources — enabling them to reach as far as their will and potential can take them. Our mission is to develop elite-level cyclists within our region.

We offer a structured development program tailored to enhance individual technical skills and athletic growth:

Recreational Program

For youth aged 9 to 16 with little to no experience, whether or not they are interested in competition. Participants train twice a week in age-based groups.

Competitive Program

Divided into three groups:

  • Initiation/Development Group: For Atome (9–10 yrs) and Peewee (11–12 yrs) athletes with some experience or clear aptitude in cycling. Interested in or beginning competition.

  • Espoirs Group: For Minime (13–14 yrs), Cadet (15–16 yrs), and Junior (17–18 yrs) riders who have at least two seasons of competitive experience and want to maximize their potential. Both groups train twice a week.

  • Senior and Master Group: For adults with cycling experience and good fitness levels who wish to participate in cyclosportive or competitive events. This group receives a training plan and is encouraged to form their own training teams.

Cycling Sports-Studies Program

In September 2019, we launch the fourth year of our Cycling Sports-Studies Program, in partnership with École secondaire du Chêne-Bleu. This is the most effective way to nurture elite athletes, offering 12-month supervision by certified coaches.

The Centre Multisports provides exceptional facilities and resources unmatched by any other cycling sports-studies program in Quebec. In addition to certified coaches and kinesiologists, student-athletes have access to:

  • Gym Fit & Gym Perfo, equipped with advanced tools for physical conditioning and assessment (Fit Light, Vertimax, Hi Trainer, Smart Speed);

  • Zone Vélo Perfo, featuring 17 Computrainer stations and 3 rollers;

  • VO2max/Lactate Testing Lab, overseen by Pierre Hutsebaut, Canadian cycling icon and Level IV coach;

  • Groupe Santé AXIO sports-medical clinic and its specialists;

  • BMX start ramp and modules from the Vaudreuil-Soulanges BMX Club;

  • Climbing wall, running track, multisport equipment, and diverse classes that support holistic athletic development.

Physical, cognitive, mental, and emotional development — reaching optimal performance requires a multidimensional approach to athlete development, one that addresses all these factors.
