How Sports Change Lives: Local Inspiration and Regional Challenges
Over the past decade, we've witnessed a true social shift: never before have so many people embraced physical activity as a central part of their lives. Whether it’s running, cycling, or triathlons, Quebec's roads are alive with passionate participants of all ages.
A generation ago, turning thirty often meant slowing down or quitting sports. Today, it’s often the beginning of a new journey – striving for personal bests and discovering new passions. Above all, it’s about enjoying the movement.
Events to Kickstart the Season
Two great events are on the horizon in our region. On May 30, the Défi Tri-O-Lacs in Coteau-du-Lac will host various running events. Then on June 21, the Grande Boucle des Trois-Lacs will welcome cyclists to ride through several municipalities.
Now’s the time to make the most of the cooler weeks to fine-tune your fitness. Training advice from experts like Pierre Hutsebaut (cycling) can help you prepare with confidence and joy.
Inspiring Figures in Our Community
Claude David, head coach of the Vaudreuil-Dorion Athletics Club, is a model of passion and dedication. For over 30 years, he has been the driving force behind the Cross des couleurs in Saint-Lazare – a must-attend for local runners.
When motivation wanes, stories like those of Dr. Jacques Thibault, a symbol of resilience, or Marie-Hélène Marcoux and Maxime Yelle, two cancer survivors committed to supporting the Sur la pointe des pieds Foundation, reignite our spark.
A Mission with Impact
The Centre Multisports André-Chagnon, led by the Centre Multidisciplinaire de la Cité-des-Jeunes, is deeply committed to promoting healthy living. Its goal is to get people moving, support youth development, and improve community health across the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.
Because in the end, physical activity is more than just sport – it’s about well-being, inspiration, and connection.
