Joanne: Turning Obstacles into Strength

A science-based approach

Joanne is a scientist at heart. She passionately explores scientific studies, listens to specialized podcasts and regularly participates in webinars to enrich her knowledge. Each session begins with a clear explanation of each exercise, ensuring her clients have a thorough understanding and lasting motivation.

Nothing is left to chance. Each movement is carefully selected according to a methodical progression: soothing the pain, rebalancing the body, then progressively intensifying the effort. Functional movement and mobility are at the heart of her practice. “Each exercise must meet a specific need,” she explains.

She adapts her approach to each individual's specific needs. "Many of my customers want to lose weight or increase muscle mass, but also suffer from chronic pain. My role is to find a balance that respects their bodies while achieving their goals," she stresses. Her method is based on thoughtful periodization, always prioritizing pain reduction before increasing intensity.

When small victories become triumphs

She is particularly passionate about helping her customers regain their mobility. “Nothing is more gratifying than seeing someone achieve a movement they thought impossible, or move without pain for the first time,” she says.

Among her memorable stories, she recalls one of her first customers who suffered a stroke twenty years earlier. "Initially, she didn't have enough strength to sit without back support. After several months of training, she was able to perform biceps exercises sitting down, completely independently," says Joanne. This experience shaped the rest of her academic career. The fact that someone could regain an ability considered lost even several years after a stroke sparked an immense passion for neuroplasticity and neurorehabilitation. At Centre Multisports, she is the person clients trust to help them with gait and balance disorders.

She also relies on listening and motivational interviewing to support her clients through difficult times and rekindle their intrinsic motivation.

Life balance, body balance

In her day-to-day life, Joanne applies the principles she teaches. She rigorously plans three strength training sessions a week, convinced that “planning eliminates excuses”. She also favours walking, aware of its value after her years in neurological rehabilitation.

And because life balance also includes pleasure, Joanne humorously admits that her biggest guilty pleasure is dessert - in reasonable portions!

The rhythm of success

Rock and metal frequently accompany her workouts, infusing each session with an infectious energy. For Joanne, music is more than just background music: it becomes a motivating force, helping her clients to surpass themselves and draw the strength they need to push back their limits.

Real advice for lasting progress

Joanne offers no miracles or easy solutions. Her message is clear: “Don't set yourself up for regrets”. She firmly believes that today's pain can become tomorrow's strength if we are willing to move forward, however slowly. "We can only help those who choose to help themselves.

She has a strong message for those who still hesitate: “We are made to move.”

A partner in inner strength

At Centre Multisports, Joanne doesn't just offer physical training, but a genuine personal journey.

To walk through this door is to open a new chapter, guided by Joanne's science, empathy and unconditional support. Here, every obstacle becomes an opportunity to build lasting strength.

Joanne isn't just a kinesiologist. She's an essential partner on the path to physical and mental well-being. To meet her is to choose an approach based on listening, education and empathy. An experience capable of profoundly transforming your relationship with your body and your health.
